Topics We Accept
We publish content across three main categories. Pitches and drafts within the following topic areas are most likely to be accepted:
Food Guides:
— Guides on specific foods (what they are, nutritional value, how to prepare them)
— Food safety and storage guides
— What to eat in specific situations (after dental procedures, when sick, on a budget)
— Food comparisons and nutritional breakdowns
— Animal nutrition guides for pet owners (dogs, cats)
— Cultural and international food explainers
Healthy Eating:
— Practical guides to eating healthier without strict dieting
— Healthy options at popular fast food and restaurant chains
— Snack guides and grocery shopping tips
— Nutrition for specific goals (weight loss, energy, heart health)
— Is [food] healthy? — evidence-based answers to common food questions
— Healthy eating on a budget
Healthy Recipes:
— Original tested recipes with a healthy focus (baked, grilled, whole-ingredient)
— Recipe roundups (for example: “10 Healthy Chicken Dinner Recipes”)
— Healthier versions of popular comfort foods
— Meal prep guides with accompanying recipes
— Seasonal recipe content
Topics We Do NOT Accept
To keep our standards high, the following submissions will be rejected without review:
— Articles promoting or selling specific supplements, diet programs, or branded products
— Content making unsubstantiated medical or health claims
— Any content that could be considered a substitute for professional medical advice
— Recipes or food guides that are not original or have been published elsewhere
— Opinion pieces on controversial political or social topics unrelated to food
— Anything generated in whole or in part by AI writing tools
— Spun, rewritten, or translated content from other sources
— Articles that consist primarily of lists with no meaningful original analysis or advice
Contributor Guidelines
Word Count: A minimum of 1,000 words is required for all submissions. We strongly prefer articles in the 1,500 to 2,500 word range, as longer, more comprehensive content performs better for our readers and in search.
Structure and Formatting: All submissions should be written using a clear H2/H3 heading hierarchy. Keep paragraphs short — three to five sentences maximum. Use bullet points and numbered lists where they genuinely improve readability, not as a way to pad length. Include a brief introduction that states clearly what the article covers, and end with a concise conclusion or practical takeaway.
Tone and Audience: Write as if you are explaining something to a smart, curious adult with no specialist background in nutrition or cooking. Be direct, helpful, and honest. Avoid overly academic language, and avoid the breathless enthusiasm that makes food content sound like a sales pitch. Our audience is made up of everyday Americans who want real answers, not clickbait.
Originality and Our No-AI Policy
All submissions to Freshorahealth.com must be entirely original work written by the submitting human author. We do not accept any content that has been produced, drafted, edited, or enhanced by AI writing tools of any kind, including but not limited to ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Jasper, or any similar technology.
We take this policy seriously. All submissions are checked using AI content detection tools. If a submission is found to contain AI-generated content, it will be rejected immediately and the contributor may be permanently disqualified from future submissions.
Accuracy and Sourcing
All factual claims must be supported by credible, publicly verifiable sources. When you submit an article, please include inline citations or a reference list pointing to the sources you used. Acceptable sources include U.S. government health agencies, peer-reviewed research, and reputable health or nutrition organizations. We do not accept brand-sponsored studies as sole sources, and we do not accept claims that cannot be verified.
Do not include statistics, claims, or figures that you cannot point to a credible source for. If you are unsure, leave it out or frame it as general knowledge.
Link Policy
Contributor bios may include one link to your personal website, blog, or professional profile. No additional links to external websites are permitted within the body of the article. Affiliate links, promotional links, links to products or services you are selling, and links to other content marketing pieces will result in immediate rejection of the submission.

Editorial Review Process
Step 1 — Initial Screening: All submissions are reviewed for topic relevance, minimum word count, formatting compliance, and adherence to our no-AI policy. Submissions that fail this stage are rejected without further review.
Step 2 — Content and Accuracy Review: Accepted submissions proceed to a full editorial review. Our team fact-checks key claims, evaluates source quality, and assesses whether the article meets our standards for clarity, balance, and originality.
Step 3 — Editing: If the article passes the content review, our editors may make structural, grammatical, or factual edits. We will share significant edits with the contributor before publication.
Step 4 — Publication: Once approved and edited, your article will be scheduled for publication with your byline and bio. We will share the live URL with you once the piece is published.
Step 5 — Updates: In keeping with our editorial review policy, published articles may be reviewed and updated over time to ensure accuracy. We will notify contributors of any significant changes to their work.
